In 1961, the year the Berlin Wall was built, Fidel Castro defined the cultural policy still in force in Cuba today: »Dentro de la Revolución, todo; contra la Revolución, nada« (»Within the Revolution, everything goes; against the Revolution, nothing«). But does this create a invisible line, a dynamic agreement or a protective wall? For the past few years, young theatre makers of various backgrounds in Havana have come together in the Laboratorio Experimental Escenico (LEES) to follow their desire to work with collective artistic methods. In order to draw closer to the non-representable and interdisciplinary, they’re looking for new aesthetics. For the premiere of Granma. Trombones from Havanna, arts and culture producers from Havana and Berlin will talk about their artistic positions and methods over two evenings of discussion.
