András Dömötör (born in 1978) received a Diploma in Stage Direction in 2007. He is currently working as a director and actor at the Theatre Academy in Budapest. András’ main interest lies in exploring contemporary topics and plays, as well as in examining the role of theatre in today’s society, often by means of improvisation, which András employs as a basis for his work. Among his recent plays are Sirenengesang by Péter Nádas, Die Pest by Albert Camus and Märtyrer by Marius von Mayenburg. His play Trusteeship, a theatrical »soap opera«, is performed at the Katona József Theatre in a different light each month, as it is takes into account relevant political and social aspects of Hungary’s life. András Dömötör was described as »the most Promising Rising Theatre Talent«. At the Studio Я of the Maxim Gorki Theater, he set up Sasha Marianna Salzmann's Notizen zu Hurenkinder Schusterjungen and staged Mephistoland.
