Kim, a dazzling solo performance by Nairi Hadodo, brings the Kim Kardashian phenomenon to the stage. With evocative choreography, iconic pop-cultural references and last but not least, tracks from Kim’s controversial ex-husband Kanye West, she presents a multi-layered portrait of an entrepreneur and personality. Using their shared Armenian ancestry as a foundation, Hadodo weaves elements of Kim Kardashian’s biography together with her own. Thus, Kim is more than a spectacle about fame and self-actualisation. This performance exposes the myths of Hollywood glamour and turns into a discursive interrogation of identity, female power and how much humanity is behind a perfectly manicured façade. After Hadodo successfully wrote, directed and performed Kim at Theater Basel, she’s now adapting the work for the Gorki.
