Dor Aloni

The director and actor Dor Aloni was born in Israel. In 2011, he completed his acting studies at the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio in Tel Aviv, where he performed in film productions, at state institutions and in Israel's independent theater scene, such as the Acco Theater. He studied directing at the Theaterakademie Hamburg and staged and developed the play about;blank for the Schauspielhaus Hamburg as his first directing commission. His subsequent works Hitler Baby One More Time and Danke, Deutschland!, both of which premiered at Schauspielhaus Hamburg, have been performed at various theaters (including Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and Theater Bremen) and have been invited to young directors' festivals (including Körber Studio Junge Regie, Hauptsache Frei #7 Hamburg, OUTNOW! Festival and WePresent). In 2021, Aloni continued his dramaturgy master's degree at the Theaterakademie Hamburg and continued directing at Theaterhaus Jena (Liebe brennt wie ein nasser Lappen), Thalia Theater (Wenn du leidest, bist du schön; Die Schöne und das Biest), Kampnagel Hamburg (Atlantis), among others. He initiated and curated the festival Juden, Juden, Juden at the Lichthoftheater Hamburg and directed the civic stage play (Bürger*innenbühnenstück), with which he was invited to Heidelberger Stückemarkt 2024. As an actor, Aloni has appeared at the Volkstheater Munich and worked as a speaker for numerous radio stations. For his leading role in the film Südsee (Schuldenbergfilms), for which he was also co-writer, he won the New German Cinema Award at the Munich Film Festival 2023.
