Dangerously endagered writing and other borderline walks
The culture of discussion in Studio goes by one name: gegen sätze (roughly:contradic(ta)tion). Since 2013, eloquent essayism has been wedded together here with the poetology of resistance. On and around World Press Freedom Day on 3 May, we are focusing on dangerous-endangered writing and border crossers in the media. On 2 May, feminist collective Sonority from Vienna kicks off the event series with a reading from No More Bullshit – a manualfor fighting everyday sexism. On 3 May itself, Reporters without Borders discusses the situation in this year's country of focus, Afghanistan. The day after, on 4 May, Deniz Utlu and journalist and author Can Dündar review a highly political selection of Turkish contemporary literature in a new edition of Prosa der Verhältnisse. To conclude, we will celebrate 100 Jahre Mely Kiyak with a grand banquet for the 100th column from our favourite columnist (5 May).
