After beginning his career in his birthplace, Sydney, Australia, Andrew Quilty based himself in New York City in 2012. But a trip to Afghanistan in 2013 altered his path indefinitely. He has been based in Kabul, the Afghan capital, since and has worked in two thirds of the country's 34 provinces for publications such as National Geographic, TIME Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Stern, Der Spiegel and many more. Most recently, Quilty was awarded a World Press Photo award for »Spot News« and an Award of Excellence in the Photographer of the Year category in the Picture of the Year International awards.
