Mehmet Yılmaz was born in Lauffen am Neckar in 1970 and lives in Berlin. He studied drama at the Academy of Music and Theatre Saarbrücken and has appeared at several theatres, such as the Stuttgart Theatre, the State Theatre Nürnberg, the State Theatre Saarbrücken, the HAU Berlin or Ballhaus Naunynstraße. Under the direction of Nurkan Erpulat he performed in Jenseits - Bist du schwul oder bist du Türke? and Lö Bal Almanya. He regularly collaborates with director Hakan Savaş Mican, for example in Katzelmacher, shown at the State Theatre Mainz in 2012. Furthermore, Mehmet Yılmaz has been involved in several film and TV productions, working with artists like Roland Emmerich, Kevin Spacey or Fatih Akin. Since the season 2013/2014 Mehmet Yılmaz is a company member of the Gorki Theatre. Amongst other plays he performs in Kleiner Mann, was nun? after Hans Fallada and in the solo-performance Aufstand – Monolog eines wütenden Künstlers by Mely Kiyak.
