Mehmet Yılmaz was born in Lauffen am Neckar in 1970 and lives in Berlin. He studied drama at the Academy of Music and Theatre Saarbrücken and has appeared at several theatres, including the Schauspiel Stuttgart, the Staatstheater Nürnberg, the Staatstheater Saarbrücken, the HAU Berlin and the Ballhaus Naunynstraße. Under the direction of Nurkan Erpulat he performed in Jenseits - Bist du schwul oder bist du Türke? and Lö Bal Almanya. He regularly collaborates with director Hakan Savaş Mican, for example, on Katzelmacher at the Staatstheater Mainz in 2012. The directors he has worked with in film and television include Roland Emmerich, Kevin Spacey and Fatih Akin. Mehmet Yılmaz has been a member of the ensemble at the Gorki since the 2013/2014 season, where he has worked with the directors Nurkan Erpulat, Oliver Frljić and Hakan Savaş Mican, among others.
