In 2023, Armenian cinema celebrated its centenary amid an existential struggle following the 2020 Artsakh war. Yet, this crisis has also sparked a cultural renaissance, which is vividly reflected in recent films making an unprecedented mark on the international scene. The present program traces the emergence of this »new wave« over the past decade, highlighting its spirit of resistance, celebration of marginalised perspectives and defiance of victimhood.
