Inna Sahakyan is a documentary director, producer and scriptwriter, born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. Her feature-length debut as a director, The Last Tightrope Dancer in Armenia (2010, co-directed with Arman Yeritsyan) was awarded the Best Armenian Film Award at the Golden Apricot IFF. Her film Mel (2021, co-directed with Paul Cohen), received a special mention at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in 2022. Her animated documentary Aurora’s Sunrise (2022), selected at Annecy in the Contrechamp section, garnered critical acclaim, winning multiple awards, amongst others the Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2022 for Best Animated Film, a Silver Award at the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival 2022 and the Grand Prix at FIFDH – International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights in Geneva 2023.
