Tamara Stepanyan

Tamara Stepanyan was born in Armenia, and grew up to dream to make films at a very young age when everybody told her that filmmaking was not for women. She studied filmmaking at Lebanese American University and continued her studies in documentary filmmaking at The National Film School of Denmark in Copenhagen. Since 14 years now, she is based in France where she has already made several films. Her films, documentary and fiction, have won prestigious awards around the world, such as best documentary at Busan International Film Festival, Best Director at Boston Film Festival, Best documentary film at Amiens International Film Festival, and the award for Best Documentary for Those From the Shore and Village of Women at the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival.
