From 2010 to 2015, political prisoner Mikola Dziadok wrote essays about life in prison in the Republic of Belarus. He was imprisoned for political reasons at the time – the most recent wave of repression under Dictator Lukashenko has put him behind bars again. Dziadok describes and analyses daily life in prison and the key elements of the Belarusian prison system – up to self-harm as the prisoners’ last resort for protecting their own lives, their health and dignity. An evening for Mikola Dziadok and all political prisoners in Belarus.
