Christoph Links is a publisher and journalist. Born in Caputh, Potsdam in 1954, he studied philosophy and Latin American studies in Berlin and Leipzig from 1975 to 1980. Following his studies, he worked for six years as a Latin America editor for the »Berliner Zeitung« with side jobs as a non-fiction author and literature critic for the »Sonntag« arts and culture magazine. Between 1986 and 1989 he not only worked as assistant to the director at the Berlin- and Weimar-based Aufbau-Verlag publisher, but also released several specialist books and published Latin American literature and literature theory essays. Following the abolition of state censorship on December 1st, 1989, he founded one of the first new private publishers in the GDR, with a focus on politics and 20th century history. He completed his dissertation on the reorganization of the East German publishing landscape during the process of German reunification in 2008, which was followed by teaching positions and guest lectures at the Humboldt Universität Berlin, Leipzig University and Leipzig University of Applied Sciences. At the end of 2020, he stopped working in publishing to focus on his work as a journalist and historian of publishing. His publications include numerous books and magazines on the upheavals in eastern Germany and the history of publishing. Furthermore, he has worked on several film and radio projects.
