Abak Safaei-Rad

Abak Safaei-Rad was born in Cologne in 1974 and completed her acting studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover in 1999. She continued her career as a member of the ensemble at theatres including the Schauspiel Frankfurt and Staatstheater Stuttgart and as a guest performer at the Volksbühne Berlin, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Schauspiel Hannover, Theater Neumarkt Zürich and Salzburger Festspiele. She worked with Armin Petras, Wanda Golonka, Peter Kastenmüller, Simone Blattner, Hans-Werner Krösinger, Martin Laberenz, Sebastian Hartmann, René Pollesch, Schorsch Kamerun, She She Pop and many more. She has worked as a voice actor on numerous radio productions and radio plays since she was 12 years old and has made regular appearances in film and television over the past few years, including in a leading role in Beziehungsweisen by Calle Overweg at the 2012 Berlinale, at the 2020 Berlinale in the acclaimed film Futur 3 by Faraz Shariat and at the 2022 Berlinale in Rabiye Kurnaz gegen George W. Bush by Andreas Dresen. Abak Safaei-Rad has been a member of the ensemble at the Maxim Gorki Theatre since 2019, where she has worked with several directors, including Anta Helena Recke, Sebastian Nübling, Hakan Savaş Mican and Oliver Frljić.
