Mehmet Ateşçi was born in Berlin in 1987 and grew up in Naunynstraße, located at Berlin’s Kreuzberg neighbourhood, which is known for its high number of immigrants. He is a graduate of the Zurich Academy of the Arts, where he performed in the productions Batman Genesis, directed by Laura Koerfer, Raststätte oder sie machen‘s alle (Wie Tiere),directed by Peter Kastenmüller and Ralf Fiedler, and Der Belagerungszustand, directedby Christoph Frick. Mehmet Ateşçi received encouragement awards from the Armin Ziegler Foundation and the Zurich Theatre Association. In 2012 he performed in Verrücktes Blut at Ballhaus Naunynstraße and in Alice at the Lucerne Municipal Theatre. From the season 2013/2014 to the season 2019/2020 Mehmet Ateşçi is a company member of the Gorki Theatre, playing in productions by Falk Richter, Yael Ronen, Nurkan Erpulat and others. From the season 2020/2021 he can be seen as a guest on the Gorki stage.
