Lea Draeger was born in Münster in 1980 and studied at the Academy of Music and Theatre Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig. After working at Theater Bochum, she became a member of the ensemble at the Schaubühne Berlin, where she worked with Thomas Ostermeier and Michael Thalheimer, among others. In 2010 she was awarded the Daphne Preis, the Berlin audience prize, for best young actress. She continued to work with author and director Falk Richter in 2012 as a guest performer in Rausch at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and in 2014 in SMALL TOWN BOY at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin. She was a member of the Gorki ensemble from the 2015/16 till the 2023/24 season. In addition to her theatre work, she works in film and television and as a visual artist. The directors Lea Draeger has worked with at the Gorki include Oliver Frljić and Yael Ronen, as in EIN BERICHT FÜR EINE AKADEMIE, directed by Oliver Frljić. In January 2022 her debut novel Wenn Ich Euch Verraten Könnte was published by hanserblau, Hanser Literaturverlag.
