Lea Draeger was born in Münster in 1980 and studied at the Academy of Music and Theatre Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig. After working at Theater Bochum, she became a member of the ensemble at the Schaubühne Berlin, where she worked with Thomas Ostermeier and Michael Thalheimer, among others. In 2010 she was awarded the Daphne Preis, the Berlin audience prize, for best young actress. She continued to work with author and director Falk Richter in 2012 as a guest performer in Rausch at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and in 2014 in SMALL TOWN BOY at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin. She has been a member of the Gorki ensemble since the 2015/16 season. In addition to her theatre work, she works in film and television and as a visual artist. The directors Lea Draeger has worked with at the Gorki include Oliver Frljić and Yael Ronen. In January 2022 her debut novel Wenn Ich Euch Verraten Könnte was published by hanserblau, Hanser Literaturverlag. In the 2023/24 season, she can be seen in Im Menschen muss alles herrlich sein, directed by Sebastian Nübling, and in Antigone, directed by Leonie Böhm.
