On 10/December, Reporter ohne Grenzen (RSF) presents the Goldene Friedenstaube to the Russian human rights and media project OVD-Info. The award honours the initiative's many years of commitment to investigating politically motivated repression. Since its foundation in 2011, OVD-Info has published news about arrests, violations of freedom of assembly and the suppression of protests. OVD also provides legal aid for politically persecuted people.
The Goldene Friedenstaube Human Rights Prize has been awarded since 2008 to institutions and individuals who are committed to international understanding and human rights. After one year, the respective award winner passes on the Goldene Friedenstaube to another institution worthy of the award. This is intended to create a global peace network. The laudatory speech will be given by Alice Both, editor of Die Zeit and former Moscow correspondent. This will be followed by a panel discussion with journalist Grigory Okhotin and human rights lawyer Violetta Fitsner from OVD-Info as well as Gemma Pörzgen from Reporter ohne Grenzen project
