An unease about the conventional concepts of (romantic) love, traditional family and friendship: this is the starting point of the reflections in Radikale Zärtlichkeit (Radical Tenderness). Şeyda Kurt explores – also in the confrontation with her own life – how traditional relationship models can become unbalanced as soon as they are critically questioned in the force field of patriarchy, racism and capitalism. How can people stand up together against systems of oppression as partner*s, (self-chosen) family and friend*s?
Deniz Utlu talks with Şeyda Kurt in the 18th issue of Prosa der Verhältnisse about possible answers to these questions as well as visions and utopias of a radical tenderness as a program of justice and solidarity.
The literary event series Prosa der Verhältnisse is organized in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
