What does it do with writing if the published word is a life-determining, sometimes life-threatening consequence for the authors? Perhaps because they have to fear imprisonment or exile? The former editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper »Cumhuriyet« Can Dündar was accused of espionage and arrested, survived an assassination attempt and is now in exile in Berlin. On this evening, actors of the Gorki Ensemble read from his notes in German exile – Verräter – as well as texts by other authors from Turkey who are or were in prison or exile. Deniz Utlu talks to Can Dündar about words in times of unrest.
With texts by Can Dündar, Ahmet Altan und Aslı Erdoğan
