PROSA DER VERHÄLTNISSE #11

DAS ENDE DES KLAGELIEDS

After many years abroad, Fatma returns to Turkey. There her life is also quickly reduced to ruins. So she travels on – in fairytales. Menekşe Toprak’s novel The Story of the Woman, the Men and the Lost Fairy Tales is an intense tale of life and relationships in East and West and of malaise in metropolises like Istanbul. Deniz Utlu and Toprak discuss her political retelling of the allegory of the tree of knowledge: the end of a lament.
