On January 19th 2007, Turkish nationalists murdered the Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, who had been resolutely against all forms of nationalism. Osman Okkan's film Mordakte Hrant Dink (Murder Case Hrant Dink) deals with the background of the murder in a climate of denial of the mass murder of the Armenians, repression from Turkish authorities and Turkish nationalism. Okkan also examines the civic movements for whom Dink's death was an opportunity to reinforce the fight against nationalism and to fight for memory, reconciliation and freedom of speech.
