Taner Şahintürk was born in Castrop-Rauxel in 1978 and played for Schalke 04 as a young athlete aiming to become a professional footballer. After completing an undergraduate programme in German studies, he transferred to the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart and studied acting. His first position in an ensemble took him to the Nationaltheater Mannheim where he appeared in productions directed by Calixto Bieito, Burkhard Kosminski and Simon Solberg. In 2011 he became a member of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus ensemble and acted in plays such as Der Prozess, Kasimir und Karoline and Wie es euch gefällt. Taner Şahintürk has also appeared in film and television productions, including Der Kuaför aus der Keupstraße and Kleo. Taner Şahintürk has been a member of the Gorki ensemble since the 2013/2014 season, where he works with directors including Yael Ronen, Sebastian Baumgarten, Nurkan Erpulat, Sebastian Nübling, Oliver Frljić, Hakan Savaş Mican and Falk Richter. He appeared in GET DEUTSCH OR DIE TRYIN', written by Necati Öziri and directed by Sebastian Nübling, which was invited to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2018. He also appeared in IN MY ROOM directed by Falk Richter, which was selected by the 45. Mülheimer Theatertage festival as 2020’s play of the year. He can also be seen in Dschinns by Fatma Aydemir, directed by Nurkan Erpulat on the Gorki stage, which was awarded the Friedrich Luft Prize 2023. In the 2023/24 season, directed by Hakan Savaş Mican, he is starring in Unser Deutschlandmärchen, based on the debut novel by Dinçer Güçyeter. Ciao by and with Taner Şahintürk, Emre Aksızoğlu, Knut Berger and Jonas Dassler celebrates its premiere at the Gorki on 01/June.
