Svenja Liesau was born in Magdeburg in 1989 and finished her acting training in 2013 at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. Even before she began her studies, she appeared in performances at Theater Magdeburg, where she worked with directors such as Jan Jochymski. In February 2013 she became a member of the ensemble at the Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin, where she worked with Armin Petras and Jan Bosse, among others. From 2013 to 2017 she was part of the ensemble at Schauspiel Stuttgart. Liesau was a member of the Gorki ensemble again from the 2017 to 2022. The directors she has worked with at the Gorki include Yael Ronen, Sebastian Nübling, Christian Weise and Leonie Böhm. She performed in VERRÜCKTES BLUT directed by Nurkan Erpulat, which was invited to the 2011 Theatertreffen, and in UND SICHER IST MIT MIR DIE WELT VERSCHWUNDEN directed by Sebastian Nübling, which was chosen by Theater heute as play of the year for 2021. She can still be seen at the Gorki regularly as a guest performer in, among others, the production of HAMLET directed by Christian Weise.
