Born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Kathleen Bomani is a versatile cultural curator, connector and advocate for the open expression of creativity. In recent years, she has researched, archived and shared her findings as a curator by participating in creative conferences, holding public lectures and creating productions. Her latest documentations and a fashion show at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art rounded out her last decade. Bomani's work is rooted in cultural histories and archives. In 2013, she was awarded the »Leeway Foundation Art & Change grant« for work in the areas of media/visual arts and cultural preservation. She has also been honoured with many other accolades within her global African diaspora community. At the Maxim Gorki Theatre in 2018, Kathleen Bomani presented her performance What Happened Here?, which addresses the offshoring of World War I to the German colonies.
