Çiğdem Teke was born in Dinslaken in 1977. She studied drama at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in the Netherlands and subsequently worked closely with director Susanne Kennedy, first at the Nationaltheater in Den Haag and later on at the Münchner Kammerspiele, where she was a member of the ensemble from 2011 to 2015 and appeared in Kennedy´s productions of Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt and Warum läuft Herr R. Amok?, which were both invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen. She was also in Sebastian Nübling’s productions of Three Kingdoms, Orpheus steigt herab (invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen 2013) and Camino Real. In addition, she has worked with the directors René Pollesch, Johan Simons, Andreas Kriegenburg and Alvis Hermanis, among others. She has been part of the Gorki Theatre ensemble since the season 2015/16, where she has worked with several directors, including Nurkan Erpulat, Hakan Savaş Mican, Ersan Mondtag, Sebastian Baumgarten, Yael Ronen and Sebastian Nübling. She can be seen, among others, in Dschinns directed by Nurkan Erpulat, which has won the Friedrich-Luft-Preis in 2023.
