Anna Volkland

Anna Maria Volkland studied dramaturgy (Diplom) at the University of Music and Theatre »Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy« Leipzig, followed by a degree in dance studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. In 2007 she was a co-founder of the Werkstattmacher e.V. at LOFFT Leipzig and received the first Marie-Zimmermann-Stipendium for young dramaturgs in 2008. As a dramaturg she worked for venues including the DNT Weimar, Thüringer Staatsballett and the Kompanie MOUVOIR. Since October 2014 she has been a researcher as part of the department for theatre history and theory at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she is writing her dissertation on »Institutional Critique in German Metropolitan Theatres Since the Late 1960s«. She has taught at institutions such as the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and the University of Hildesheim. Furthermore, since 2009 she has written for journals such as Theater der Zeit and nachtkritik.de.
