With Aslı Erdoğan and Susanne Baer
Can we only maintain individual freedom if we limit absolute freedom and bind it by law? Because, as the saying goes, »liberty for wolves is death for lambs«.
Please note that there has been a change regarding Sunday’s event: Sadly, Ms Erdoğan’s health will not allow her to speak here on Sunday. However, we have found an exciting alternative in journalist Can Dündar, former editor-in-chief of Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet and well-known commentator on the political situation in Turkey. Together with Susanne Baer, he will discuss the fraught relationship between freedom and order.
The images created by Esra Rotthoff for the Berlin Correspondence: Between War and Peace lecture series deliberate on the upheavals and tectonic shifts in a crisis-laden world between war and peace. She takes the portraits as emblems of conflicting claims to power and places them inquiringly opposite various peace symbols.
Berlin Correspondence is a Matinée-Series of the Gorki Forum and the Humboldt University Berlin in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
