Ivo Dreger was born in Oberhausen in 1995 and grew up in Leverkusen. After taking several acting courses, he was an ensemble member of the Junges Theater Leverkusen e.V. from 2012 to 2015, where he gained experience as an actor and assistant director in productions and workshops and was also able to realize his own production as a director and writer.
He then studied European Literature, with a focus on German and English, in Marburg and Canterbury, as well as Comparative Dramaturgy and Performance Research in Frankfurt am Main.
In addition to his studies, Ivo Dreger interned in the dramaturgy department of the Hessisches Landestheater Marburg and subsequently took over as assistant director for the musical production Spamalot (2017) under artistic director Matthias Falz. He was also part of the internationally cooperating association DRAMARASMUS, where he took on administrative tasks and taught acting courses. In 2018, he wrote and directed its production re.un.ion, which participated in the Erasmus+ Scene Network Festival in Valencia.
Since the beginning of the 2021/22 season, Ivo Dreger has been part of the dramaturgy department of the Maxim Gorki Theater, first as an intern, then as an assistant for the supporting program ’61 – ’91 – ’21: IMMER WIEDER DEUTSCHLAND for the exhibition OFFENER PROZESS – AUFARBEITUNG DES NSU-KOMPLEXES, and since February 2022 as a permanent assistant of the department.
