Vahide was from the city of Ordu on the Black Sea. 1915: at seven years old, her Armenian parents left her with friends back on the Black Sea when they fled from the Ottoman army. They knew what was coming for them, signs of the impending mass murder had begun to appear some time ago. The child Vahide was left to an uncertain fate. The German-Turkish-Armenian musician Marc Sinan relates the story of his grandmother, her memories, her shame and her luck to be adopted by devout Muslims at the last minute.
