Schwarze Früchte

Screening & Party | BLACK HER*HIS*STORY MONTH

Lalo is Black, queer, in his mid-20s and stuck in chaos. After the unexpected death of his father throws him off track, he compensates for his loss by burying himself in action, making such rushed decisions that everything in his life falls apart at the seams.
Lamin Leroy Gibba's Schwarze Früchte (Black Fruit) series has turned the film world on its head and thrilled audiences. The show deliberately centres the lived reality of Black and queer people, addressing topics such as belonging and self-realization. All told by a team mainly composed of BIPoC and queer members. Head writer, showrunner and co-producer Lamin Leroy Gibba and his ensemble have used a haunting visual language to create an extraordinary dramedy series which celebrated its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The Schwarze Früchte crew welcomes you to a screening of the first two episodes, followed by a Q&A with questions about the making of the series, the team's inspirations and the deeper messages hidden in the stories.

After the screening and Q&A, the Schwarze Früchte party will throw a proper celebration for the start of Black Her*His*Story Month to a soundtrack created by Abiba und Nasra out of a mix of hip-hop, baile funk, afro & future bass, trap, breakbeat and jungle.
