On the night before April 24th 1915, Ottoman authorities began the deportation of the intellectual elite from the Armenian community in Istanbul. Since then, the mass murder of the Armenians has been commemorated worldwide on this date. On the night before the day of remembrance, Kim Seligsohn sings, in Roter Sonntag 1915—Hymne an die Namen, the list of the 162 initial deportees from Istanbul who were murdered: »My intention as a singer is to give the ›incomprehensible‹ a sound. As long as the names are alive, the dead are not forgotten, and affect us.« She will be accompanied by violinist Chatchatur Kanajan.
