In English
Through language into life. Claudia Durastanti's novel tells a family story about the facets of being foreign: an Italian mother, an Italian father, a daughter born in Brooklyn. The parents are deaf. From books she learns to speak, from her parents to tell stories - because they spin tales about their love. Deniz Utlu talks with Claudia Durastanti in the 19th issue of Prosa der Verhältnisse about the search for one's own truth through writing, the importance of remembering for storytelling, and about being at home in being a stranger.
Die Literaturveranstaltungsreihe Prosa der Verhältnisse wird in Kooperation mit der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung durchgeführt.
