We Forge the Future was the name of the Laibach performance that took place on 23/April 1983 as part of the XII. Music Biennale Zagreb. As a result of a fierce public and media campaign against the group, Laibach was formally banned in Yugoslavia until 1987. The group was founded in 1980 in Trbovlje, an industrial coal-mining town in central Slovenia. For the performance at the Gorki Theatre, Laibach will add to the programme new interpretations of songs they were supposed to perform in Trbovlje in 1980 with Rdeči revirji (Red Districts), their first multimedia project, which was meant to challenge the blatant contradictions of the political and cultural situation in the country, but which was banned. These interpretations were released on 1/January 2023 on the album Sketches of the Red Districts (GOD Records).
