Valerie Göhring

Valerie Göhring, born in 1992, studied theatre and urban studies at Universität Leipzig and completed internships at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, Centraltheater Leipzig and Schauspiel Hannover. She is a co-founder of the Fuchsbau Festival in Hannover. In 2014 she participated in the Forum junger Theaterkritiker at the Theaterbiennale in Wiesbaden. In 2015 she was a fellow at the Theatertreffen-Blog. Beginning with the 2014/15 season, she worked as an assistant dramaturg at the Schauspiel Frankfurt. She also continued her studies with the Curation In the Performing Arts course in Munich and Salzburg. In the 2017/18 season she was part of the dramaturgy staff at the Berliner Ensemble, where she managed events including the Salon für Text und Musik, in cooperation with Das Wetter magazine and the Berlin 3000 architecture series. Together with author Mirna Funk, she curated the Connecting the Dots theme day in commemoration of the victims of National Socialism. From the 2018/19 season to the end of Matthias Lilienthal's term as artistic director, Göhring was a dramaturg at the Münchner Kammerspiele, where she curated the Warszawa-Munich festival, which focused on young Polish artists, and worked with directors such as Christopher Rüping, Ersan Mondtag, Anta Helena Recke and Felix Rothenhäusler. Two productions she worked on, Dionysos Stadt and Die Kränkungen der Menschheit, were invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen festival. She was also active as a guest curator at the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and co-curated the Unfuck my future. How to live together in Europe festival together with Matthias Pees. In 2020 she was awarded the Marie-Zimmermann fellowship from the Akademie Schloss Solitude. Göhring has been a dramaturg at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin since the 2020/21 season.
