Tomer Gardi was born in the Kibbutz Dan in Galilee, he studied literature and pedagogy in Tel Aviv and Berlin and writes both prose and drama. His literary essay Stein, Papier was published in 2011 in Hebrew, it was translated into German in 2013. His novel Broken German was published 2016 and aroused a lively discussion, eg at the Ingeborg-Bachmann-Wettbewerb in Klagenfurt. The jury was discussing whether a novel, which is written in an irregular language, should be acceptable. His next novel Oder sie kriegen Ihr Geld zurück will be published in February 2018 in Hebrew at Pardes Publishing House; the German translation will be available at Droschl Verlag in spring 2019.
