Tina Müller was born in 1980 in Zurich, where she also spent her childhood. She studied cultural studies at the University of Hildesheim from 2001 to 2004, followed by studies in dramatic writing at the University of Arts, Berlin. In 2003 she was invited to the World Interplay festival of young playwrights (Australia). Müller was a fellow at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus' Autorenlabor for the 2007/2008 season, winning their competition with her play Verlassen. She received awards at the Kaas & Kappes festival of Dutch-German theatre for young audiences in both 2005 and 2010. Her play Bikini received the second Baden-Württembergischer Jugendtheaterpreis (2006) as well as the Deutscher Jugendtheaterpreis (2008). In 2017 her play Dickhäuter was awarded the Mülheimer KinderStückePreis. Tina Müller is part of the performance group magic garden.
