Teresa Koloma Beck is a sociologist who studies globalization processes and everyday life in social and societal crises. She is particularly interested in conflicts and violence as well as the significance of colonial and imperial history in contemporary societies. She is Professor of Sociology at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. She has previously worked in various international and interdisciplinary research and teaching contexts, including at the Humboldt University of Berlin, the University of Erfurt and the Franco-German research institute Center Marc Bloch in Berlin. She has conducted ethnographic research in Angola, Mozambique and Afghanistan. In addition to her academic work, Koloma Beck is also involved in various fields of political and artistic practice outside the academic world and is active as a lecturer, consultant and author.
