Selda Akbayir is from Dersim. In her first state examination thesis she researched the relationship between Kurdish and Turkish students. She has also dealt with Kurdish biographies in other areas. For example, as a student assistant in the field of linguistics or as a therapeutic interpreter. In her professional career as a teacher, she has mainly worked in schools with a high migration background and has also given training courses for teachers on topics such as multiethnicity in Turkey and diversity and discrimination in schools. She is currently working as a trainer at the State Institute for Teacher Training and School Development in Hamburg for the Intercultural Education Advice Center. Her work focuses on anti-discrimination.
