Hans Unstern makes songs, texts, music instruments, performances and theater. From 2004 and 2008 he was stated homeless by Feuilleton and started to make music on the streets of Europe. In 2009 he got a residency for six months at Antje Øklesund in Berlin. In 2010 Hans Unstern toured as the supporting act with the band Ja, Panik. In April 2010 the debut album Kratz Dich Raus auf Nein, Gelassenheit und Staatsakt was published. Several concerts on different theater stages in Germany, Austria and Swiss followed. In 2012 the volume of poetry Hanky Panky Know How was published and later the second album The Great Hans Unstern Swindle came out. For the album Unstern and the producer Nackt worked more intensely together on compositions, positions and tones. For the staging of The Great Hans Unstern Swindle they created a special scenography and light design that presented the eight songs from the album in changing and enhancing settings.
