Ruby Commey

Ruby Commey, born in Berlin in 1991, studied acting at the Berlin University of the Arts from 2016 to 2020. Before and during her studies, she performed in productions by the Junges DT at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. These included the play developments Fluchtpunkt Berlin (directed by Tobias Rausch), Tod. Sünde. 7 (directed by Wojtek Klemm) and Alice (directed by Nora Schlocker). At the Deutsches Theater Berlin, she appeared as Miss Forsythe in Bastian Kraft's production of Arthur Miller's Tod eines Handlungsreisenden in 2017. At the Berliner Ensemble, she appeared in David Bösch's production of Eine Frau – Mary Page Marlowe by Tracy Letts in 2017. In 2018, she performed in Hermann Schmidt-Rahmer's production of Jelinek's Ein Sportstück at UNI.T (Theater der UdK Berlin) and won the ensemble prize with her class at the Schauspielschultreffen 2019. In the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, she was a permanent ensemble member at Schauspiel Hannover, where she appeared in Ella Hickson's The Writer (directed by Friederike Heller) and Dance Nation by Clare Barron (directed by Stephan Kimmig), among others. In addition to her work in the theater, Ruby Commey regularly appears in front of the camera for film and television. Current film projects include Die geschützten Männer by Irene von Alberti, which premiered this year at the Munich Film Festival, Ladybitch by Marina Prados and Paula Knüpling and the leading role in Beton auf Haut by Marijana Verhoef. At the Maxim Gorki Theater she can be seen in the production of May Ayim's poems BLUES IN SCHWARZ WEISS.
