Raissa Kankelfitz, born in 1986 in Yalta (Crimea), completed her apprenticeship as a set painter at the Landestheater Eisenach/Wilhelm-Ostwald-Schule Berlin and studied set and costume design at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (HfBK Dresden).
During her studies she worked as an assistant at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Semperoper Dresden, ifs cologne and Polyphon Leipzig Film & Fernseh GmbH, among others. She created her own designs for Anatomy Zerlegen for the 250th anniversary of the HfBK Dresden; for Philoktet (directed by Sapir Heller) at the Theaterakademie August Everding; and for Eine Woche im Oktober - 25 Jahre friedliche Revolution (curator: Arved Schultze) at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden. Kankelfitz worked as a set and costume design assistant at the Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin from 2015 to 2017. She’s been working as a freelance set and costume designer since 2018.
