Volker Braun, poet, storyteller and playwright, was born in Dresden in 1939. After studying philosophy in Leipzig, he worked as a dramaturg at the Berliner Ensemble. Volker Braun has received numerous awards for his literary work, including the Georg Büchner Prize.
