Pınar Öğrenci

Artist Pınar Öğrenci (*1973, Van, Turkey) lives in Berlin and currently the MA programme »spatial strategies« at Kunsthochschule. Her body of work, which consists mostly of video art and installations, is at the intersections of social and political content, everyday practices, and human stories. Her work mainly focuses on different reasons for forced displacement such as war, state violence, collective movements, industrial and urban transformation projects. Yet, they vary independently of theme and geography. In her recent works, Öğrenci has focused on the cultural symbols transported to Europe through the Mediterranean from the Middle East.
