Oliver Kontny was born in Dortmund and has been working as conference interpreter and literary translator since 2005. He has translated several volumes of fiction and non-fiction form Turkish to German and collaborated with acclaimed filmmakers Fatih Akın, Mıraz Bezar and Semih Kaplanoğlu. He worked as a dramaturge at Ballhaus Naunynstrasse and co-authored Hakan Savaş Mican‘s adaptation of Orhan Pamuk‘s »Snow«. His own audio play »Mad People‘s Republic« won the Berliner Hörspielfestival in 2013. He has taught classes in translation studies, interpreting and dramaturgy at various German universities and has been involved as an editor with the bilingual »gazete« project of the daily tageszeitung
