Nadezhda Israelyan

Nadezhda Israelyan is a theatre director from Yerevan, Armenia. While studying at the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinema, she gained experience by working on several performances at the Student Theatre, experimenting with different styles and themes. In recent years, she has participated in international projects with theatres and artistic initiatives in France, Georgia, and Russia. Since February 2022, she has been collaborating with the Open Space Art Centre in Tbilisi, creating documentary performances in Yerevan.
Over the past few years, she has staged two documentary performances, Planned Outage and Download, Upload, Loveload. Additionally, she worked on a production based on Gabriel García Márquez’s short story The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World at the National Puppet Theatre in Yerevan.
Currently, Nadezhda works with independent theatre groups in Yerevan, developing new performances. She is also pursuing a master’s degree at the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinema, focusing on documentary theatre. Through her research, she aims to popularize this genre in Armenia and create meaningful, innovative theatrical works.
