Moritz Richard Schmidt

Moritz Richard Schmidt was born in 1980 in the GDR and lives in Berlin. In 2012 he graduated in film and television directing at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf and has been working as a freelance director since then. 
Since 2016 he has been collaborating with the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and has produced the trailer for the Herbstsalon (2017/19) and the War or Peace Festival (2018). 
Together with Max Czollek and Sasha Marianna Salzmann, he created the documentary DESINTEGRATYA in 2016 as part of Disintegration – Ein Kongress zeitgenössischer jüdischer Positionen, and for the Radikale Jüdische Kulturtage (2017) at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Studio Я, he created the satirical film series Jews News Today based on a script by Max Czollek and Tobias Herzberg. For the 2020 Tage der Jüdisch-Muslimischen Leitkultur initiated by Max Czollek, he continues the Jews News Today series - this time with a history special and realizes the film DAS BESTE ABENDMAHL at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin for the kick-off event »Aus der Bubble in die Charts«.
