Miraz Bezar is a Berlin based filmmaker and author. Bezar studied directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) and initially made a name for himself with his short films. His most recent short film, Nicht zu früh, nicht zu spät, premiered at the Next Generation Short Tiger in Cannes. In 2009, Bezar produced his first feature film MIN DÎT - Die Kinder von Diyarbakir, which celebrated its world premiere at the International Film Festival in San Sebastian and won the Youth Award. This was followed by a further 12 awards worldwide. Miraz Bezar was also nominated for the 2011 German Film Award for Best Screenwriter.
In the field of theater, Bezar has been working with the Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, the Maxim Gorki Theater and the Tournee Theater Landgraf since 2008. In 2009, he adapted the novel Das Märchen vom letzten Gedanken by Edgar Hilsenrath and in 2012 the play §301 - Die beleidigte Nation about the murder of the Armenian journalist Hrant Dink. In 2019, he staged the theater adaptation of Aus dem Nichts, which won the INTHEGA Prize Die Neuberin as the best play of the year. This was followed in fall 2020 by the production Gott by Ferdinand von Schirach.
