Marspet Movsisyan, born in Artashat, fled Armenia to Germany with his family at the age of six. He grew up in Hamburg and has been in front of the camera for over ten years: initially with his own YouTube videos at first and from 2017 as a reporter for the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) broadcaster. In addition, he works as an author, editor and social media manager for various educational and documentary programmes and organizations such as WDR Doku, Quarks, ykollektiv, CIVIS Media Foundation, 1Live and Deutschlandradio. After studying social sciences, he completed his two-year traineeship at WDR in 2022. Origins, identity, discrimination, racism and injustice are the subjects that he continues to be passionate about. At the end of 2023, he traveled to his native Armenia for the first time in over 23 years to meet refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh as part of an ARD documentary. Visiting Armenia and the Armenian Genocide Memorial complex enabled him to engage in even more depth with the genocide of more than 1.5 million Armenians.
