MARIAM SAWIRES is an Egyptian woman, born in Australia into a nomadic family of musicians and artists. Since her childhood, Mariam was inspired by the sweet lyrical high-pitched melodies of traditional songs passed down through generations in Egypt and the rhythms created from the clay Darbuka of her father. Her flavour of Arabic/Northern African infused Jazz/ NuSoul was featured on the video series of Artbreaks, a series of creative humanitarian videos connected to UNICEF. Her voice also won the approval of Yoko Ono to sing John Lennon's Real Love for the Australian and Scandinavian National TV series The Biggest Loser. Currently, Mariam is settled and based in Germany and has begun to share her music throughout Europe.
