Lisa Wegener was born in Leipzig and studied translation and applied literature. She translates mainly plays and essays from English, French and Dutch by Peter Brook, Dieudonné Niangouna, Jan Fabre, Virginie Despentes, Ella Hickson, Léonora Miano, among others. She works on phenomena of the intertextual and intermedial in translation for the stage, strategies of decolonisation and queer-feminist translation in theory and practice. She is the editor of Afropäerinnen - Theatertexte aus Frankreich und Belgien and Surf durch undefiniertes Gelände - Internationale queere Dramatik.
