Käthe Johanning (*2000) grew up in Detmold, where she received piano, organ and trumpet lessons. She studied her main instrument, the piano, for two years at Detmold Young Students’ Institute (Hochschule für Musik Detmold). As a member of their vocal ensemble Pop-Up, she participated in numerous concerts, competitions and CD productions, and performed in the US as part of the Detmold Youth Orchestra. She is currently a student at Jazz Institute Berlin (UdK). As a professional pianist and vocalist, Käthe has worked with many (indie) pop and jazz artists, such as Kat Frankie, Annett Louisan, Wilhelmine, MODHA, Lie Ning, Alli Neumann, Noah Slee, Das Paradies and Clueso. Since 2023, she is a permanent member of the German indie-pop band JEREMIAS and also founded her own band SO SORRY where she composes and arranges a lot of music connected to feminist and queer topics and visions of caring music.
